Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing and coding, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and medical office procedures. The Medical Coder will be responsible for evaluating medical records and claim tickets to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Classification of Diseases Manual - Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), and the American Medical Associations Current Procedural Terminology Manual (CPT). Candidates must ensure that all patient claims are accurately and efficiently processed, and that our facility maintains compliance with all relevant billing regulations. Our Revenue Cycle Management is integrated with our emr (eClinicalWorks), so a working knowledge of electronic claims submissions is a must.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Review patient medical records for accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes for billing purposes.
  • Ensure that all patient claims are submitted to payers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Handle and resolve billing discrepancies and denials.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient billing and payment.
  • Stay current with changes to medical billing and coding regulations, including ICD-10 and CPT updates.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure that all patient billing needs are met.
  • Manage patient billing and insurance information in our medical billing system.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education in medical billing and coding or a related field is required.
  • Must have a strong understanding of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
  • Proficiency in medical coding software.
  • Experience with medical billing systems is necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling patient information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Certification in medical billing and coding, such as CPC or CMC, is preferred.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
